All About Mrs. Freund

Hi boys and girls!

First of all, I can’t wait to meet you and get our year started. I have been working very hard getting our classroom put together so we can have a successful year together! As you may know, this is my second year as a fifth grade teacher at Westbrook Middle School! I was a student teacher in fifth grade in Old Orchard Beach and then I was a long-term substitute in Saco. After that, I moved to Germany for three years and taught Kindergarten at an international school in Munich, Germany. Now I'm back and I'm so excited to be home at WMS. Westbrook Middle School is one of my favorite places in the world and I hope to make you feel at home here, too. See you soon!

 - Mrs. Freund

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I can’t wait to meet my students! I’m excited to see how much they grow from the beginning of the year to the end of year!

What is your favorite part about WMS?

I love 5th Grade Fun Night hosted by Student Council! We also have great intramural sports and BAM (Body and Mind) Day, which makes WMS unique!

What is an interesting fact about you?

I LOVE to travel and go on adventures! I have lived in the US, Australia and Germany. Some of my favorite things include hiking, skiing, visiting new cities and any extreme sports! My favorite is skydiving!

When did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 6 years old!!! I have a picture that I drew in Kindergarten of me standing in front of a classroom. It has been a lifelong dream of mine that I’m so happy came true!

What is your favorite animal?

I am sure you will hear a lot about my dog, Penny. Since I do not have any children, she is like my child! However, my favorite animal is a… shark! You’ll have to ask me about the day I swam with sharks in Australia.

What can I expect from you as a teacher?

I am a very fair teacher. I like to have fun but I also expect my students to work hard in return. The better behaved my students are, the more activities we will be able to do. I have high expectations, but I believe that all students can reach their highest potential when they try. I am the Language Arts and Science teacher, so we'll be sure to have a lot of fun experiments this year!

What is your favorite subject to teach?

I honestly like all of the subjects for different reasons! I love teaching Reading and Writing because I love being creative. Science is a lot of fun because we get to do experiments and figure out how the world works! I love to integrating cooking into science, so hopefully we will be cooking up some great treats this year!

How can I be successful in your classroom?

Always try your best! I would rather you get the answer wrong than not try at all! As long as you come in every day with a smile and a good attitude, you will be very successful in my classroom!

All About Mrs. Bradbury

Hello 5th graders!

I am so excited to start this fun year with you at Westbrook Middle School. This is my second year of teaching 5th grade at Westbrook Middle School. Before Westbrook, I taught 5th grade in Sanford. I love 5th graders! I have two kids, Lexi who is going into 7th grade and Jaxon who is going into 6th grade. I live in Scarborough and love to cook in my free time! I cannot wait to find out all about you this year!

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I love the excitement of a new class full of new learners! I love to see where we start our year, and how much we have learned over the year about school and about each other.

What is your favorite part about WMS?

I love how many different countries are represented at WMS. I am always meeting students from different parts of the world that know multiple languages. I think it is such a cool thing to be a part of.

What is an interesting fact about you?

When I was younger I grew up on a farm with all sorts of animals! I have some interesting stories about these farm animals!

When did you know you wanted to be a teacher?

I have wanted to be a teacher since at least kindergarten! My mom had me fill in this questionnaire each school year that said what my favorite things are and what I wanted to be when I got older and since kindergarten I wanted to be a mom and a teacher (and an artist, but that was only for one year!)

What is your favorite animal?

I love animals! So I can’t pick one. I have to pick 2. My two favorite animals are horses and dolphins. Both are just amazing creatures and I love being around them whenever possible.

What can I expect from you as a teacher?

I believe if you ask my former students they would say that I am tough but caring. I want to have fun, but I want to make sure we get done what we need to first! I have very high expectations of all of my students and want what is best for them. I will always be here to support you in whatever you need, but will also expect that you are working hard to help yourself get where you need to be. 5th grade is a tough transition, but together, we will make it the best year you have had!

What is your favorite subject to teach?

I love math! Math to me is so much fun. I love having a problem in front of me and trying to come up with a solution. With that being said, I know math is not everyone’s favorite subject, but I will try to make it as enjoyable as possible. I am so excited that I get to teach math and social studies this year!

How can I be successful in your classroom?

Work hard, have fun, stay organized. If you are working hard, there is nothing more I can ask from you. I want learning to be fun. I believe that you need to love being a learner. I love learning! My students are teaching me new things everyday! And staying organized helps you work hard and have fun! The less time you have to use finding your pencil or your papers the more time you have to work hard and then have fun!
